Synopsis
I was born in Lagos in 1956 and raised in Scotland, where a love of the outdoors – and travel – began early. After starting a career in supermarket management, I quickly realised there had to be more to life than routine, so I set off to travel the world. Six years later, I landed in Australia and built a life in the travel industry.
My journeys have taken me from walking across frozen Lake Baikal to cycling to Everest Base Camp, from encounters with Syrian police to nights in a Turkish jail. Just an ordinary person determined to live fully.
When COVID brought travel to a halt, I feared time was slipping away. But as the world reopened, I seized the chance to explore again—most memorably, an expedition to Antarctica, standing at Sir Ernest Shackleton’s grave surrounded by wildlife.
A cancer diagnosis in 2024 changed life again, but I’m now in remission and still travelling. My stories and photographs have appeared in publications, and I continue to share my passion for travel with others.
Based in Melbourne, with children and grandchildren following their own journeys, I remain curious about what’s next. These stories can be read in any order – but together, they trace a life shaped by curiosity, resilience, and the simple joy of seeing the world.
